Waveblade
With the arrival of the Witchcraft boards in the UK we have intoduced a new wave range for 2008. The Waveblade has a moderate aspect ratio and a good adjustment range. In the larger sizes particularly, it is possible to firm up the top leech and create some depth high up in the sail by the gradual release of the downhaul. This gives a moderately high drive which is particularly good in float and ride conditions. The below picture shows the fullness of the sail quite well, letting off a little more downhaul would put a bit more shape into batten 2, and with it a bit more drive when sheeting in to help drive the rail of the board in. Generally you would expect to rig these sails with lighter downhaul (and hence higher drive) in more marginal conditions or when using a more rockered board, when the wind picks up, or with more bump and jump (flatter now often called fast tails or freestyle waves....) orientated rockers crank the downhaul on as normal.
Constructed from US. Bainbridge laminates, these sails are very robust AND light, the 5.8 weighing in at 2.9 KG for a standard version (can be buit lighter if you like...). If you compare that with the mass market sails you will see that this is a 1kg saving, or put another way the waveblade is 25% lighter! For prices and sizes see here
