Dec 2009 - www.5-oceans.com
Demon Design Sails have always been best known for racing sails and rightly so, we are pretty good at them! Sometimes this means our wave sails go under the radar so to counter this we are putting our latest wave ranges, onto a different website so that they can stand alone. Testing has been pretty good in typical Cornish conditions (thats mast and a half reef waves to onshore marazion mush and everything in between) with 2 of the hottest (if now old :-) ) UK wave sailors Andrew Fawcett and Ian Black. Satisfying the demands of these two is , how can i put this.......... interesting. They want em light as a feather, strong as an ox, lots of drive in the bottom turn, completely neutral in the air, lots of backhand boosting an aerial.... you get the idea... check it out at www.5-oceans.com
October 2009- Clearance kit now available
pre-loved sails and boards now available here
October 2009- Mark Kay 2009 UK Inland champion
Well done to Mark Kay who has taken first place in the UKWA Raceboard Inland series for 2009. This is no mean feat, for an 85 kg sailor to beat the lightweights over a series of events is very very hard and Marks results over this series show his determination and work ethic. In the light winds when most heavy weights suffer the most- Mark just works harder. 1st for Mark Kay and 1st for Demon Design sails.

September 1st 2009- Preparing for Autumn.
After a lovely summer break we are all back in the loft and gearing up for autumn. Planned for the next 2 months are the introduction of colour options into some ranges and full revisions of others. Hopefully we will have enough time to revamp the website too. Will keep you updated.
In the meantime here is an 8.2 C4 blasting in the south of france

July 20th 2009 - Closed for Summer break.
We will be closed from 20th july until the 31st August 2009 for our summer break.
June 2009 - VG5 Wins .........again.....
Following his worlds win in 2002 (on a VG5) Mark Kay returned to raceboard this year. After a couple of events to re-acclimatise he is back to his winning form taking 1st at the last 2 UKWA events on the 9.5 VG5. The wind at Bridlington on both days was predominantly very light and given Marks "heavy bones" now accounting for his 84 kg he did brilliantly to get ahead of the pack and take the win. Rutland was a different story with a good solid breeze of around 20 knots for much of the first days racing Mark was completely dominant posting 4 bullets and a fourth!
The current VG5 is proving to be a very quick RACE WINNER right across the range of conditions from 0-20 Knots- no surprise really- it was designed to be.
June 2009- Kids Rigs
Here is the Imp kids sail, 3m and very light (1.5kg) but still with enough stability to make it fun. Its been designed around bodyweights of 30-45kg and heights around 130-150cm. Its a proper littel sail!

May 2009- Sneak Peek at the new Raceboard sail.... the VG5 Ultra
The VG5_Ultra is so named because its ultra tall. Designed for optimum performance in 0-12 knots, we have gone high aspect and it sets on a 590 luff with a 210 boom. Its under testing at the moment and is proving quick now we have the mast for it sorted out. More info to come soon.......

27 September 2008-
OOOOps its been a while for an update hasnt it! Well the summer was busy with the test trip and our annual holidays, but now we are full "nose to the grindstone" catching up with orders.......... hence the lack of updates. Its Weymouth speed week next week so good luck to all the particpants and especially Simon Hinkley who now has soooo many boards and sails the hardest thing for him will be choosing what to use.
We thought you may like a couple of pics of the sail loft- here is Kirsty sewing up some racing Jibs --->

14 June 2008 - Wind drought or wrong kit?
Well we havnt done much wave sailing for a while- once in the last month- which isnt the best statistics really is it! But what we have been doing is sailing the longboard- and having huge amounts of fun with it. The new 9.5 is a class bit of kit and feels nowehre near its 9.5m when throwing it around, but every bit of it when delivering the power we need in these force 2-3,s. cant wait to get out on the waveboard again- but in the meantime.........longboards rule!
14 May 2008 - Latest 9.5 VG5 Raceboard sail.
The latest VG5 raceboard sail is the best yet. Built in Technora it is a 6 batten, 6 cam design that weighs in at 4 KG dead. The sail is pushing the board onto the rail very early and so far has proven itself exceptionally quick, especially in the7-12 knots range. The feedback from customers is that they are generally placing several places up the fleet with the new sails. Pics and info here
01 May 2008 - windspeed cut for longboards.
We are now offering the windspeeds with a specific longboard cut as well as the normal crossover cut. This allows more shape and drive up high in the sail for use in lighter and more marginal conditions and helps drive the heavier boards more effectively. See here for more info and pics
16/04/2008 - Speedsailing results
The final curtain on this years "Driven by Wind" record attempt, saw Simon Hinkley use the C4 slalom sails to place 6th overall and second brit with a time of 41.6 knots. A world class time and placing...especially as an amateur weekend sailor, with a full time job taking unpaid leave to attend the events- well done simon! Results here
01/01/2008 - New photo site here .......
www.guavajelly.co.uk is now up and running. have a look through and if you want any of the pictures simply pop it in your cart and pay via paypal- simple!
28/12/2007 - Solid wavesailing in Cornwall
We have had some realy nice swell the last few days- head to logo high at The Bluff and superb wavesailing. check the pics here
02/12/2007 - Blistering speeds at "The Ray"
Simon Hinkley, using the 2007 C4 5.5 hit a peak speed of 44.1 knots and a 500m average time of 41.1 knots at The Ray today. Apparently the course was choppy.....? read all about it here
24/11/2007 - C4 speed 2008 model first outing
Simon took the new 2008 C4 for a spin at West Kirby with great success- this was the first time the new shapes had been used in anger(due to the llightwinds at Weymouth speed week in october) and simon managed to beat the rest of the field at the www.gps-speedsurfing.com ultimate speed meeting (USM). Results here. The feedback was that the sail (6m) has a very low and very stable drive and is very much suited to the smaller slalom board and bigger speed board. Simon is absolutely gagging to get this sail out into broad windy conditions ASAP. Well done Simon. The 08 sail is an evolution of the previous C4's- we havnt done anything fancy with it- just tweaked it so it works even better- no turbo widgets- no blah blah marketing- no fancy colour schemes- just the dogs bollox slalom sail :-)
28/10/2007 - The Ray speed quest
Dave White is organising a record attempt at the Ray in south east England for the winter 2007/2008 period, good luck to all those involved- more info can be found at Daves site- www.k-63.com (opens in new window)
01/10/2007 - Weymouth Speedweek
Simon Hinkley did well in the light airs to claim 3rd pro for the week, in the light winds Simon used the 8.2m C4 and a radical Ken Kingsbury designed board-the ZUD. Simon did fantastically well given that he doesnt rate himself in light winds- well done!
01/10/2007 Boards magazine test the '08 Witchcraft 75
Boards magazine devoted a whole page to the write up of the Series 75 board in the October 07 issue and summarisd it like this " It is an extremely dynamic board, fast and exciting, that seems to turn with extroadinary speed and bite for a waveboard allowing very fast clean carves into waves and amazing jumping" , not bad for a first test we thought!
20/09/2007 New Windspeed Twin Cam sails
The new twin cam windspeed sails are now available in 7.2, 6.5 and 5.9 sizes. They are coming out uber light and oh so friendly for handling. The lightness makes gybing, waterstarting, tacking and general handling hugely easier and so much more fun. Expect a windspeed to weigh more than 1kg LESS than a mass market sail- and often nearer 2kg less!
08/2007 Portland harbour speed record.
Simon Hinkley powered his 6m Demon Design Wildfire to a 37.02knot 500m time at weymouth in August. This is the fastest time that we know of recorded at weymouth by a sailing craft thus far. This should not be underestimated as an achievement, many top sailors have tried and failed to go faster at Weymouth.
18/07/2007 Closed for holidays
Demon Design Sails is closed for our annual hollidays from the 20th July until the 31st August. We are off on a trip to Morocco and a hunt for wind and waves!
20/05/2007 Demo Board feedback
Some feedback on the Boards forum about the Witchcrafts here (opens in new window) and a very happy sailor after a demo here
12/05/2007 Witchcraft selling like hot cakes in the uk.
The last couple of weeks has seen more witchcrafts out and about
in cornwall than ever before- Marazion, Gwithian, Daymer bay, all
good to see. The demo board is still available for anyone to have
a go on- please contact us for details
08/05/2007 Wildfire speed sail
After a bit of messing about the prototype Wildfire is firing on
all cylinders. According to the resident Demon Design crash test
dummy (aka Simon Hinkley) it has an insane slingshot acceleration
from a beam to a broad reach, we are just waiting for a good forecast
for The Ray or West Kirby to get it fully lit.The design for the
6m is now finalised, the smaller sizes are still under development.
20/04/2007 Demonstration Witchcraft 80 available
We have a pre-production 80 litre Witchcraft available for demo.
Allthough its slightly different to the series production boards(its
a bit heavy and the nose rocker is very different-the Series boards
have 3-4 cm more) it will give anyone interested a very good idea
of how a trifin setup works in general- WARNING- IF YOU DEMO THIS
BOARD YOU WILL WANT ONE!
15/04/2007 Waveblade wave sail
The witchcraft tri fin waveboards deserved a sail all of their
own- here it is the Waveblade- designed to excel in all types of
waves- from Gwithian to the Sarf coast, a wavesail to suit you all.
